G g e m s t o n e c i t y

fueled by deeply rooted unconditional love
passed down from the many generations before her
a girl is transformed into a woman
she sets her aim higher and begins down an undiscovered path
as her speed accelerates, she approaches something in the distance
a shining city, its streets paved in crystals
just before entering she hears a call from behind
its a man
she backtracks the trail to grab his hand
they walk forward together
she basks in their newfound warmth
but realizes that their pace forward is slower than when she was alone
frustrated, she contemplates letting go
but instead squeezes his hand tighter
and they begin to walk with flow
as she looks ahead in the distance
she notices that the city that was once crystal

is now paved in diamonds
awed by it's magnificence, she continues forward
but before they near the city
they hear a call from behind
it's family
they backtrack the trail to grab their families hand
although they move at a slower pace than they once moved as a couple
each step becomes more gracious and filled with love

as they get closer to the city she notices that the city is now paved in opals, shining more prolifically than ever before
but as they move forward a member of the family, overwhelmed by doubt
stops and says "this city looks nothing like anything i've ever known. where i come from, cities are paved in gold."
so the family member turns around, and beings to walk away

as they separate, the woman notices the opal city turn back to diamond
the woman runs back to the strayed family member
vibrations of fear and loneliness surround them
she breaks through the negativity with a warm hug
the family member is lifted by the woman’s courage and is no longer carried by fear
so they turn around together, and rejoin the group

the city is opal again, shinning even brighter and with more hues
the woman realizes that it is not the city itself that is changing stone
but the collective glow reflecting off of each family member that is making the distant city appear more vibrant
aligned in this deep awareness
the couple lead their family towards the opal city
no longer looking to arrive at the city, only to solidify it's state in dullness
but rather pace it's approaching trail, looking for loved ones
to increase the radiance of the gemstone destination
for all the family and future generations that will join them along the way
